Whether you’re extending or converting, any work carried out on a shared wall needs the consent and approval of both parties.
To keep things simple, we start by encouraging you to share your plans with your neighbour as early as possible, easing any concerns they might have. We’ll then provide you with template forms, which you and your neighbour will sign to say you have come to an agreement.
And while your neighbour can’t stop you from continuing your project, they can request the opinion of a party wall surveyor. This can slow your project down or increase costs, but if your neighbour does wish to follow that route, don’t worry. As with every aspect of your project, we’ll work closely with the surveyor to make sure you receive the best possible outcome.
